Planning a Custom Made Wardrobe to Keep Your Snowboards in Great Condition

If you live in an apartment but love snowboarding, it can be tricky to find the right spot to store your snowboards and gear when they are not in use. Luckily with a custom made wardrobe you can prioritise room for your snowboards over space for other clothing you don't use and help keep your boards in perfect condition. That way you have somewhere neat and tidy to store those boards out of sight in the guest room, and save money on a storage unit.

The bedroom is a great place to store your snowboarding gear if you have the space as the carpeted floor and low humidity will keep you board in top condition over the off season. Having them behind a wardrobe door keeps the light away and your boards stay nice cool.

Here is how to plan out your custom wardrobe to store your boards.

Measure the boards

Measure up your boards and gear. You don't just want to have space for the board but also your snow pants, boots and coat as well as a duffel bag so you are always ready to head out. Make sure you can fit it all in and still close the doors - so measure the width as well as the height of all of your objects.

Your wardrobe installer can also place a rack in the wardrobe to keep your boards upright and off each other, to prevent damage and scratching. If you remove some of the fittings of your board in the off season to prevent rusting, it's great to have a shelf next to the rack to store them. It's very frustrating not being able to find small pieces when you just want to get going.

Plan ahead

While you might currently only have the one board, over time you might want to have the flexibility to pick up a longer board for some open snows, or a shorter board as you get more confident and want to do some gnarly tricks. Having some flexibility with the capacity of your storage rack means you can pick a great board if you see one you like for the right price, and have somewhere for it to slot in.

Having a custom made wardrobe is a great way to store your boards while you aren't using them. If you are looking to get a one made for your snowboard, you can work with a wardrobe designer such as Thomo's Home Improvements to make the perfect storage space.
